Ms. CACTUS
She soaks up water like a cactus
When rain falls it fills her up
You never take rain for granted
When you’re a cactus
Water seeps into her parched roots
Her fingers spread wide beneath the tan sea
Each bulbous raindrop drips under her nails
Like a circuit waking up it’s wires
When a light switches on
Liquid fills her spine to the brim
And her vertebrae spit like Grecian fountains
Like a statue spitting water to the blue below
It is exquisite architecture
And a royal system
All at once Ms. Cactus is plump
Her spiky flesh protrudes pokey points
Corpulent eyes shutter open
Velvet green arms reach out to check for rain
When only blistering rays hit
She soaks up all the sun
